American Furniture from John Edward Pavlik

John at Springs Folk Art FestivalOnce upon a time when America was young, there were men who were cabinetmakers, carpenters, and joiners. They processed trees into lumber and the lumber into houses and furniture. The legacy of these men, including the American furniture and architectural woodwork they crafted achieved an elegance of design never again matched in American history. The time was the 18th century. The craftsmen of those days have vanished into legend. Today, the traditions they left behind are followed by a diminishing handful of skilled artisans.

Display at Springs Fold Art FestivalThese traditions continue at Duck Pond Farm in Somerset, Pennsylvania, in the workshop of noted cabinetmaker John Edward Pavlik. All of John’s creations at Duck Pond Farm are bench made by employing traditional building techniques. Drawers and cases are hand dovetailed, cabriole legs are hand carved, and moldings hand planed. The techniques and traditions of 18th century woodworking are closely adhered to.

Research and scholarship are employed to lay the foundation for reproducing each exacting representation of a period piece, whether crafting room ends, cabinetry, or fireplace mantels. It’s period millwork and American Reproduction Furniture at its finest. Learn how your project evolves from a tree to a unique American masterpiece in wood.

We can honestly say that no matter what work John has done for us - restoration & repair of antiques, moving & reconstruction of an early log house, making woodwork for our 1814 stone house - you name it - we've been absolutely pleased with his work!!

The historical research and correctness of his work exceeded our expectations.

We also own many of his wood carving creations and furniture which enhance our own collection! We recommend him highly for any job because he takes great pride in doing his best at whatever it might be. He is truly blessed with some great talents!
